Ukraine Local Competition of 2017 CFA Institute Research Challenge Kicked-Off

On Friday, November 11, 2016 at concert-hall “Oasis” the new season of the local competition of 2016-2017 CFA Institute Research Challenge was officially kicked-off.

This year more than 180 students in 39 teams from 33 leading Universities from 17 regions of Ukraine will compete for the chance to represent Ukraine during the EMEA Regional Final in Prague, Czech Republic. Among participating teams:

The Kick-Off Meeting was officially opened by the Head of the Ukraine Local Final of the CFA Institute Research Challenges– Roman Anzin, Board Member of CFA Society Ukraine, Head of Education and University Relations Committee.

Within Kick-Off Meeting was hosted 2016 Student Career Day where employers had a chance to present theirselves to graduate students. Participants of this year Research Challenge realize this opportunity to have a short talk with HR’s and company representatives asking tricky questions on their future employment. Student Career Day was opened by experienced recruiter – Elena Matviychuk, Board Member of CFA Society Ukraine, Head of Job Placement&Career Development Committee. Elena told students 7 steps to succeed in the future career. This year 14 top employers from different sectors took part at the event: Genesis, Deloitte, KPMG, EY, PwC, Mazars, Dragon Capital, Concord Capital, Citibank Ukraine, Kyivstar, Danone, EasyBusiness, Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. It was a unique opportunity for students to get closer to the profession.

After the lunch Kick-Off Meeting was continued by the presentation of Subject Company - Danone. Artem Gorbik, Senior Finance Manager of Danone presented the company followed by detailed Q&A session from students.

The Kick-Off Meeting continued by unique workshop form the President of CFA Society Ukraine – Yevhen Hrebeniuk, CFA on the essentials how to write research report. Yevhen shared his experience in analytics and give students practical advices on how to write sell-side report.

This year 39 experienced investment professional kindly agreed to play role of the mentors and fill give practical advices to participants during the competition. At the Kick-Off Meeting, teams had an opportunity to meet their mentors and discuss future cooperation.
