TWO TEAMS PRESENTED UKRAINE ON EMEA REGIONAL FINAL IN LONDON

    • The EMEA Regional Final of the CFA Institute Research Challenge was held by CFA Society in London on April 10 – 11, 2013 at the Church House Conference Centre, Westminster. The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global competition which tests the analytic, valuation, report writing, and presentation skills of university students. This year nearly 3,500 students from over 750 universities in 55 countries have participated and learned best practices in equity research from leading industry experts. Students and guests arrived on April 10 for registration and the official Kick-Off event to discuss rules, answer questions and review the competition schedule and format. The finalists and guests of the Challenge were welcomed by Brian Stype, Director, Research Challenge, CFA Institute who emphasized on the educational, ethical and professional orientation components of the Final. On the morning of April 11, the teams competed in the semifinal round with their presentations against experienced panel of judges from all over the world. This year teams from 26 countries were competing to become the finalists of the EMEA Region. Ukrainian teams from Kyiv School of Economics and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv have successfully represented Ukraine. Finalists were determined by the combined scores of the students’ presentations (given that morning) and research reports (graded weeks in advance) and were announced at lunch. The top team from each of the 5 semifinal rooms was advance to the EMEA Regional Final: University College Cork representing CFA Society Ireland

    • Wrocław University of Economics representing CFA Society Poland

    • Uppsala University representing CFA Society Sweden

    • Politecnico di Milano representing CFA Society Italy

The winner of CFA Institute Research Challenge this year became Wrocław University of Economics. CFA Society Ukraine was mentioned as the most active participant of CFA Institute Research Challenge, because of 25 leading Ukrainian universities participating in the competition this year. Ukraine was the only country with two finalists at EMEA Regionals.

              • This year as a Graders of Regional Final from Ukraine were nominated Andrey Bespyatov, CFA, Ph.D., President of CFA Society Ukraine, Managing Director at Dragon Capital, and Alexey Sobolev, CFA, Senior Analyst at Dragon Capital Asset Management, who have kindly agreed to grade the reports of EMEA Regional Final. This year the winner of the Regional Competition is Team of Wroclaw University of Economics from Poland, who represented EMEA Region on April 12 in London during the Global Final. The Winning team was awarded by Nitin Mehta, CFA, Managing Director for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), who congratulated all finalists with the completion of the Challenge and invited all Universities to take part in the next season of CFA Institute Research Challenge. The winners of Regional Finals of CFA Institute Research Challenge were competing on Global Final in London on the following day after EMEA Regionals: Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies - Winner of Asia Pacific Regional Final
