CFA Society Ukraine announced Nestlé as a Subject Company of 2019

CFA Society Ukraine announced that the subject company for its 9th annual local final of the CFA Institute Research Challenge will be Nestlé S.A.

Nestlé S.A. was founded in 1867 in Switzerland. This is the largest food and beverage company in the world with sales of CHF 89.8 billion (2017). The company owns 413 factories in 85 countries around the world with 323 thousand employees. Nestlé products - coffee and beverages, confectionery, culinary, baby food, healthcare nutrition, ice cream, chilled and frozen food, cereals, mineral water - about 8 500 brands in the world. The most well-known brands Nescafe, Maggi, Nesquik, Gerber, KitKat, Purina. Nestlé operates in Ukraine since 1994. In 1998 Nestlé S.A. acquired a major stake (96.96%) of JSC "Svitoch" (Lviv). In May 2003 LLC "Nestle Ukraine" was established in Kyiv to conduct operational and marketing activities. In 2003 Nestlé S.A. acquired 100% shares of JSC "Volynholdintg" (Volyn region) (TM "Torchyn"). In 2010 Nestlé S.A. has acquired "Technokom" LLC (Kharkiv, TM "Mivina"). Nestlé in Ukraine is included into Zone EMENA (Europe, Middle East and North Africa) headed by Marco Settembri. The main categories in Ukraine are culinary (TM "Torchyn", "Mivina"), beverages (TM «Nescafe», «Nesquik»), confectionery (TM «Svitoch», «KitKat» «Nuts», «Lion» etc.) as well as baby food, breakfast cereals and petcare.

In 2011 Nestlé Business Service in Europe (NBS Lviv) started operations in Lviv. Share service center employing 1 300 specialists active in the field of finance, human resources and other areas for businesses of Nestlé in Europe and America.

For more than 20 years of activities in Ukraine Nestlé has invested about CHF 300 Mio.

Nestlé in Ukraine takes an active part in public life and different social initiatives as educational program for elementary school children on building healthy eating habits, development of sustainable agriculture, youth employment opportunities and caring for environment activities.

Students from Ukraine’s top universities will present their recommendations derived from in-depth research on Nestlé. The teams will present and defend their equity analysis to a panel of top industry professionals.

Local Ukrainian Competition is one of the biggest competitions in EMEA Region (and top globally). Last year 180+ students from 35 Universities in 12 regions of Ukraine participated in the Research Challenge making Ukrainian contest one of the biggest in the world.

The Research Challenge is an annual educational initiative designed to promote best and ethical practices in equity research to students from universities worldwide through hands-on mentoring and intensive training in company analysis. Leading industry professionals mentor business and finance students on how to research and report on a publicly traded company.

This year, more than 4,000 students from over 865 universities worldwide are participating in local challenges, leading to the regional and global competitions hosted by CFA Institute in Zurich, Switzerland in April 2019.
