Teams of Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv Named Winners of Local CFA Institute Research Challenge in Ukraine

CFA Society Ukraine announced on Friday, February 13, 2015 that the teams of Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv have won the local competition of the CFA Institute Research Challenge and now advances to the EMEA Regional where it will compete against universities Middle East, and Africa.

The Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman team consists of Zakhar Deriuga, Bogdan Baras, Yuliia Klen, Anastasiia Vikhrova, Yevhen Zayarnyi; Faculty Adviser – Larysa Antoniuk; Mentor: Ivan Sichkar, CFA.

The Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv team consists of Vadym Baranovskyi, Volodymyr Volchenko, Tymur Kotovskyi, Andrii Kuznietsov, Yevhen Samofal; Faculty Adviser – Maria Borovikova; Mentor: Kostiantyn Fastovets

The following finalists competed with winning universities at the Ukraine Local Final held on February 13 at ALFAVITO Hotel Kyiv:
  • Chernihiv State Technological University (Faculty Adviser: Yaroslav Petrakov) 
  • Kharkiv National University of Economics (Faculty Adviser: Nataliya Vnukova) 
  • Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman (Faculty Adviser: Larysa Antoniuk) 
  • Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman (Faculty Adviser: Olena Tsirkun) 
  • Kyiv School of Economics (Faculty Adviser: Tom Coupe) 
  • National University of State Tax Service of Ukraine (Faculty Adviser: Olga Pizhuk) 
  • Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University (Faculty Adviser: Yuriy Verlanov) 
  • Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Faculty Adviser: Mariya Borovikova) 
  • Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Faculty Adviser: Pavlo Dzyuba) 
  • Zaporizhzhya National Technical University (Faculty Adviser: Irina Nechaeva) 
Each university sent one or two team(s) of three-to-five students to participate in the local challenge. The Ukraine Local Final was the first step of two for a local team to advance towards the global final in Atlanta. The students from the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv will now travel to the Regional Final to be held in Amsterdam, Netherlands on April 2015, where they will match their wits, analytical skills and presentation abilities against other student teams from the Europe, Middle East, and Africa. The winners of the three Regionals (Americas, EMEA, and Asia Pacific) will then advance to compete in the Global Final in Atlanta, Georgia, USA on 17 April 2015.

The students presented their analysis and buy/sell/hold recommendations on RTL Group. Their presentation at the Ukraine Local Final was the culmination of months of research; interviews with company management, competitors, and clients; and presentation training.
