Kyiv, Oct. 26, 2012 — Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv has become the latest university (and the first in Ukraine) to be welcomed into the CFA Institute University Recognition Program. The MSc in Corporate Finance Program has been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice within the program. This program positions students well to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, which has become the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world.

Entry into the CFA Institute University Recognition Program signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit CFA examinations. Through participation in this program, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is eligible to receive a limited number of student scholarships for the CFA Program each year.

“Students in these programs study the Candidate Body of Knowledge, which includes knowledge, skills, and abilities that investment experts worldwide have identified as essential best practice,” said Stephen Horan, Ph.D., CFA, CIPM, Head of University Relations & Private Wealth for the CFA Institute. “By mastering the fundamentals of the CFA Program as well as the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, these future investment professionals join us in our mission to promote the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence for the ultimate benefit of society.”

The MSc in Corporate Finance Program was established at the Finance Department in 2011 among other new MSc programs aiming to provide systems of applied knowledge and skills required for the changing world of finance. The MSc in Corporate Finance Program can be completed in four semesters on a full-time or part-time basis, with financial disciplines being the core building blocks of the program. The key mission of the MSc in Corporate Finance Program is training highly qualified professionals - creative, imaginative, ambitious - who will be able to work in public administration, enterprise, international companies, institutions and organizations of various types.

The MSc in Corporate Finance is one of the most prestigious programs in Ukraine, providing students with a comprehensive skill-set through courses in the Humanities complemented by strong technical, analytical and management skills.

The Finance Department actively supports other projects managed by the CFA Institute/CFA Ukraine, particularly the CFA Institute Research Challenge. Teams from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv represented by students from the Finance Department have twice won the Local Challenge and represented Ukraine in the EMEA Regional Finals in Madrid (2011) and London (2012). The victories in the CFA Institute Research Challenge in Ukraine, as one of the best regarded student competitions in the world in the field of investment, affirmed the quality of the curriculum as well as students’ competitive ability.
