25 Ukrainian Universities became a part of global education initiative

On November 9, 2018 the Kick-Off meeting of Ukraine local competition of 2019 CFA Institute Research Challenge gathered 200 talented students from 25 universities from 12 country regions.

CFA Society Ukraine organize this contest since 2010. The goal of the competition is to write an investment report on one of the leading public companies. This year the subject company for investment research is Nestle S.A. Head of Finance and Report - Alejandro Dayan and Senior Controller – Nadiya Maksymiv from Nestle Ukraine & Moldova make an insightful presentation of the company to students.

The main advantage for student participation in the CFA Institute Research Challenge is the ability to transform the knowledge gained at universities into practical skills of investment analysis, teamwork and presentation of their work before the jury, whose members are representatives of Ukrainian investment and consulting companies.

Yevhen Hrebeniuk, CFA, made a hard skill workshop on how to write effective and distinctive equity research giving the key tips to pay attention to during the competition.

During the Kick-Off Meeting, students had a chance not only to listen to professional advice on how to succeed with the investment report from the investment industry representatives, but also become a part of Student Career Day and meet TOP Ukrainian employer at one place. This year the following companies presented themselves to the students: Nestle, ICU, FinPoint, Deloitte, KPMG, EY, Concorde Capital, Blackshield Capital, Citi, Civitta, DTEK, Simcorp, CaseWare, National Bank of Ukraine, NaftoGaz, Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, Genesis, PwC, Fractal, Prozorro.Sales.

The competition is supported by about 20 companies and organizations, that are looking for young talents among the participants. For many years, the students-finalists of the competition begin their careers with companies-partners of the competition after their graduation.

The team that wins the 2019 CFA Institute Research Challenge Ukraine Finals will compete with students from the EMEA region in Zurich, Switzerland. The transfer and accommodation of the winning team will be done at the expense of the CFA Institute.

In 2015, the team from Ukraine was the best in the EMEA region and entered the TOP-4 in the world. If the Ukrainian team wins again in the regional finals, it will get a chance to win 10 thousand dollars from the CFA Institute in the International Finals. The money can be used for development of their university only.
